Title: The Turn of the Screw
Author: Henry James
Page count: 88
Read dates: 19/09/2020-21/09/2020
Synopsis - A governess caring for two children on a remote estate becomes convinced the house is haunted.
My thoughts - When The Haunting of Bly Manor was announced, I really wanted to read this before I saw it. I've seen a couple of the other adaptations, but I had never read it, so thought it was time.
Overall, it was quite chilling in places. There is something about looking up and seeing someone staring in at you through the window, that really sends chills down my spine.
I did think that some of the sentences were just far too long, and I also didn't really feel like I knew what happened by the end of the book.
So overall, I found it a bit disappointing, I didn't find the characters likable, or the story interesting. I did enjoy the Netflix adaptation though!
My rating - 2/5
