Rose Madder - Book Review

Title - Rose Madder

Author - Stephen King

Page Count - 620

Read Dates - 31/05/21-19/06/21

Synopsis - After years of domestic violence, a single drop of blood causes Rose to leave her home without anything other than the clothes on her back, her handbag, and her husband's credit card. She starts a new life in a new town, with a mysterious new painting hung on her wall, but she soon discovers that Norman, her abusive husband, has found her.

My thoughts - I was very shocked by the opening sequence of this book. It was very graphic, and difficult to read, but it also hooked you in, and set the tone of the book well.

Overall, it was a good book if not a little disturbing. Strangely, it didn't feel like I was reading a Stephen King book.

The painting was a little odd, although it's not too unusual for a king book to dive into an alternate reality/dimension/world.

For the most part, I really enjoyed it but I felt like the ending rambled on a bit and it didn't really add anything to the story.

My rating - 3/5
