Synopsis - Cujo, a St Benard, is bitten by bats and turns Rabid. Unnoticed by his family, his illness progresses, and the unsuspecting Donna and her son Tad are found stranded in their car, unable to move for fear of the once lovable dog.
My thoughts - This has sat on my bookshelves for years, I've never really felt like reading it. It made me feel uncomfortable, that's for sure.
It is a dark book. It starts with a pretty scary sequence, so I felt hooked straight away. It does then lag a little, but I realized by the end that King is building tension.
Once Donna and Tad are stuck in the car it is horrifyingly tense and so heartbreaking. I didn't see Tad's death coming, and as a mother of a little blonde-haired boy, all I could think was what I would do?
Truthfully, I probably wouldn't have gone there in the first place!
My review - 4/5
