2022 Eco Living Goals

Some of the Eco-Friendly swaps I've already made

I don't really do resolutions as such, but I do think it can help some of us to set goals.

I've come along way on my eco journey, and there are so many changes I've made that I'm really proud of. But there are still things I'd like to change. This year I'm setting myself three goals.

  1. Refill more - I do use a refill shop, but I'm still not refilling store cupboard staples. Things like rice, porridge, lentils and dried beans for example would be so easy, but its also hard to break the habit of buying them in the shop. One excuse I always put in place is that I don't really have a place to store lovely jars of refilled products, but this is something I am going to work towards. I do refill washing up liquid, distilled vinegar, bi-carb and ground coffee, as well as herbs and spices.

  2. Cloth nappies - we've totally fallen off the nappy wagon. There have been a few reasons for this, but the main one is that she needs to be moved into the next size up. She's been in the newborn sizes since she was about 3 months (she started in tiny baby sizes) and a few months ago, I started to think she'd outgrown them, but I could still get them on her, so I started using them less frequently. We've always done cloth part-time, so it was easy to fall back onto disposable nappies. Eventually the cloth nappies just stopped. Its on my todo list in the coming week to get the next size up nappies moved over and get back to using them more than the disposables - we might even try them over night! My son was great in them overnight, but I've always been a bit nervous about putting my daughter in them.

  3. Small changes - This sounds vague, so stay with me. There are a lot of small, simple things that could be done to make changes, but that I've always put off. Like unsubscribing from the millions of emails I receive but never look at. Or repairing clothes. Or many other things. So those things that I have been putting off... I'm going to start doing. I've already started unsubscribing - everytime one comes that I just want to delete instead of read, it goes!

So there we have it. Three small changes, and I'm sure there will be more along the way! I'll certainly be sharing any progress I make!
